Charles & Mary Hutson
Charlie was a self taught wood turner, with no formal art education, who started turning at a somewhat older age. He produced "straight" turnings (predominately end grain turned) of various sizes, shapes and descriptions over the years. His constant trademark was his use of beautiful examples of North American hardwoods where he specialized in very highly figured burls, crotches and other unusual pieces of wood. Charlie, who lived around wooded areas and forests all his life, greatly appreciated the beauty that such pieces of wood contained hidden inside. He always strived to reveal it in an esthetically pleasing form. He participated in numerous art fairs starting in the early 1980's. Those fairs include amongst others: He exhibited for the last time at Old Town, Chicago 2007
